Developed by Medcan’s Medical Director Dr. James Aw, in consultation with in-house specialists, Medcan’s Cardiovascular Risk Assessment offers some of the most advanced screening and imaging services available to identify your level of risk for cardiovascular disease. Depending on your age, the assessment may include an Enhanced Cardiovascular Screen (blood paneling and biomarkers), an Echocardiogram and a Carotid Doppler Ultrasound. Hypertension (high blood pressure) affects 20% of Canadians and in 2008 was diagnosed in nearly 6% of Medcan clients. Over time, high blood pressure leads to progressive damage of arteries thus increasing the risk of developing heart attacks, strokes, heart failure and arterial disease.
